When you walk into a restaurant, it’s easy to notice the obvious details:the bar, the lighting, and the menu in your hands. What often goes unseen is everything that happens long before the doors ever open. The late nights. The trial and error. The countless decisions made quietly, behind closed doors.
That’s the part we want to share with you.
At Tiki Bird, intention is where everything begins. Every choice, every material, every detail that will live inside our space has been thoughtfully considered, down to the pieces that might not catch your eye right away, but shape the experience in ways you can feel.
Take the tables, for example.
They aren’t something you can buy online or pull from a catalog. Each one is a one-of-a-kind piece, carefully crafted by hand with intention. They’re quiet works of art; easy to overlook at first, but meaningful once you notice them.
In early January, Matt and Ashley sat together watching a video on how to epoxy. No formal training. Just curiosity and a willingness to try. A few weeks later, they started creating and crafting each tabletop by hand, turning raw materials into layered, expressive surfaces. Every table built from scratch. Cutting, sanding, and sawing every piece and seeing each table through from beginning to end. Then, the fun happens. They took those boards and let creating take over. Creating designs with vibrancy and movement.
These tables will become first dates, new friendships, celebrations, heartbreaks, and everything in between. They’ll hold conversations that linger and moments that matter. They’ll be part of stories that remain unknown.
That level of care extends far beyond the tables. At Tiki Bird, we’re putting intention into every single piece that passes through our doors because we believe that when something is built with care, you feel it.
No one ever really sees what happens behind closed doors as a restaurant comes to life. So we’re opening those doors.
