down to the studs

January 21 marked a quiet but deeply meaningful milestone for us, the first day we were finally able to step fully into the space after asbestos removal. No dressed-up walls. No finishes. Just four walls, a roof, and a door, holding an overwhelming sense of possibility.

The building itself is over 100 years old. It has lived many lives before us, carrying its history in its bones. You feel it the moment you walk in: the unmistakable scent of an old building, the exposed brick laid one by one decades ago, the bright red carpet left behind from a previous chapter. Traces of what once was, still is, and patiently waiting for what’s next.

And now, we begin creating our own history, building trust with the space itself, and allowing the building to slowly trust us in return.

Soon the space will fill with plumbers, electricians, and contractors. There will be countless hours spent here problem-solving, lifting, sanding, measuring, adjusting. Hours of manual labor. Immense amounts of patience.Trusting the process.

We’re incredibly grateful for the skilled crews working alongside us, bringing care, craftsmanship, and expertise into every step. Tearing something down and building something from the ground up is never a solo effort, and we don’t take that lightly.

Right now, it may not look like much to the outside world, but to us, this is the beginning of something special.

This space has waited a long time for its next story.
We’re honored to be the ones writing it.
